Hello, Ryan Hanley here, insurance expert for TrustedChoice.com, answering another question submitted to us by a visitor to the site. Today's question is "How do I buy life insurance?"
There's really a two-part answer to this question. The first part is educating yourself on what life insurance is, the various coverages, companies, and amounts of insurance, and how you actually determine how much life insurance you should buy to protect your family. Once you have an understanding of what life insurance is, the various options, and the purchasing process, the next part is how you actually purchase the product. There are two main ways to do this. The first is that you could do it yourself. There are a lot of websites that allow you to purchase insurance on your own. If you feel comfortable and confident in that method, then that's a perfectly viable option for purchasing life insurance.
However, my recommendation would be to use a licensed insurance professional. First, it is not more expensive to use an adviser. These people are not paid based on you purchasing through them, so you're not paying anything extra. You're paying the same amount that you would if you went direct. You don't have to worry about paying more. The second part is that you have someone who has been part of the industry, who has been trained, who has expertise, walk you through the buying process.
