Heritage is an unsavory company. In short, they lie. I would not recommend that anyone do business with them.

Our premium tripled and was disbursed from our mortgage escrow account. We then received a cancellation notice from our agent, who states they will absolutely NOT renew our policy because a Rate to Consent Form was not signed. Obviously, we never received this form. I called Heritage and they said our agent was copied on the form. This is beyond absurd, they are still holding our funds and we are without insurance. This in no way should be legal, especially since the policy holder has never had a claim and our mortgage company pays them.

Absolute scum. Cancelled my policy even though they'd already taken payment. Then refused to return it even though they were not insuring me!!! Look at their BBB reviews - they have a pattern of cancelling policies on people who have made a claim. Disgusting.

Better Business Bureau

Filed a claim for wind/water storm damage on my roof. Company sent adjuster who did not check roof completely and used a drone and refused claim. I contested it and requested another adjuster be sent. The second adjuster went where the problems were and suggested a FULL ROOF REPLACEMENT in his report. Heritage changed the wording in his report to match the first inspectors report. And turned the claim down again. I called the second inspector and verified his report was changed. Fraudulent company.

My homeowners insurance doubled this year. I was never given an explanation as to why it doubled. I called and asked why and was told it was due to people filing too many fraud cases and also building materials went up. I said this has nothing to do with me. I'm on a fixed income I can't afford to pay this. She said I'm sorry.

Customer reviews are consistently 1-star and include disturbing statements about the company being untrustworthy and a "fraud."

Though Heritage Insurance offers 24/7 claims reporting, customers don't seem to be satisfied with the assistance they receive. In fact, there are many claims of policies being canceled after filing any type of claim through the insurance company.

We can't in good conscience recommend working with Heritage Insurance if a reliable company is important to you. Instead, work together with an independent insurance agent to find an insurance provider in your area that will meet your needs for coverage and exceptional customer service.
