Security First Insurance FAQ
What is Security First's average claim response time frame?
Security First does not specify a claims response time frame.
What is Security First's customer service availability?
Security First provides extended customer service hours during the week and weekend hours as well. They also offer 24/7 claims reporting.
What is Security First's claims process?
Security First's official website breaks down their claims process as follows.
"Step 1: Submit Your Claim
After submitting your claim, a Claims Examiner is assigned to oversee your claim through every step of the process, including working with different third-party specialists to ensure you’re provided with exceptional service. Your Claims Examiner is your point of contact throughout the claim process and our goal is to keep you informed of the progress we make from start to finish.
Step 2: Water Damage Mitigation
If your home is damaged by water, we partner with water damage specialists who can help to dry out your home using large fans and dehumidifiers. This process is important to ensure there is no further damage, such as mold. If you don’t choose a specialist from our network, please contact us first before you agree to any water mitigation services to confirm it's covered by your policy.
Step 3: Assess the Damage
Your damage can be inspected in multiple ways. In many cases, a Field Claim Adjuster will contact you to schedule an appointment to assess the damage. Adjusters are licensed professionals who specialize in inspecting and reporting damage. They will create a damage report and submit it to your Claims Examiner. Sometimes, an inspection can be conducted remotely without an adjuster.
Step 4: Settling the Claim
Your Claims Examiner will then review the adjuster’s report along with your policy’s coverage to determine the claim settlement. The Claims Examiner will call you to review the settlement of your claim and answer your questions. The process may be extended if damage is extensive or further damage occurs after the initial assessment."

Criminal levels of negligence. They let my coverage LAPSE without telling me. I was in solid financial standing and all my security first bills were paid. I had filed a claim last year; they were snail-mailing notices to my OLD address in Virginia. I NEVER got an email, phone call, or notification on their app that my claim was being held up. Dropped my coverage without notifying me... I didn't even have a chance to shop for another company. I found out today I haven't been insured for a month. This company has done this to other customers. This is a WILLFUL OMISSION of information used to kick customers who have filed a claim to the curb. Security first CANNOT be trusted. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. I was told there's nothing they can do, not even reinstate my coverage. |

I purchased the original policy in 2019. I have had no claims since the purchase of said policy. My renewal policy increased by 25% and I am very unhappy about the increase. |

I am a licensed Florida insurance adjuster. Do not use this company. They are violating my rights and trying to bully me into a denial. Lucky for me I can afford a roof and a lawyer and I will get paid. If a tornado levels your house down they will cover it, but if it’s a more complex issue like roof leaking from wind damage (the most likely claim you will put in), they will use all their power to bully you into giving up. I’ve seen companies use these disturbing tactics, and now they are using them on me. |

This company is OK. We recently experienced a flood in our home caused by a pipe issue. When the claim was submitted the company was quick to respond, they even sent a water mitigation team to help dry out our house. Unfortunately we were not informed of the cost of the water mitigation company upfront. It took several months to receive what was left of the claim. Communication during the event was poor, phone calls and emails were not answered. A very frustrating situation was made worse by their slow response. |

You never get an answer to an email or phone call when you have a claim. Lost documents, 3 months waiting for resolution of claim. |
TrustedChoice.com's Final Review
We award Security First Insurance a final rating of 2 out of 5 stars. The insurance company does not have that much experience under their belt at this point, and unfortunately it shows. They have dozens of complaints filed against them through the BBB and are not rated by AM Best.
What we're most concerned about is the large volume of very negative customer reviews the carrier has received. Customers report frustrating encounters in trying to get a response from the company at all, and in especially in trying to get claims resolved. Not a good sign.
Overall, we recommend working together with an independent insurance agent to survey your other options for homeowners coverage if you live in Florida, and skip looking into Security First Insurance. Especially if good customer service is important to you.
