Q. How much is renters insurance?

As a new renter, I’m curious about what all is covered under my insurance. Sometimes I worry about the expense of it and what renters insurance costs. How much is renters insurance?

Renters insurance varies in price depending on where you live, your insurance score, and your claims history. With all of that being said, renters insurance is still fairly inexpensive and can be as little as $10 per month and up.

Q. What does renters insurance cover?

As a new renter, it has not been explained what renters insurance even covers. Can you tell me what renters insurance covers under a policy?

Renters insurance coverage options vary depending on what amount you choose to cover. The basics of what renters insurance covers are as follows: your personal property, your liability, covered perils such as theft, storm damage, fire, and more.

Again, all of this is dependent upon what you choose to insure and what your policy offers. Check with your local independent insurance agent for specifics.

Q. What is renters insurance?

As a new renter, I am being told I need to get renters insurance by my landlord. What is renters insurance?

Renters insurance is similar to homeowners insurance but does not provide coverage for the actual dwelling. The policy will only cover your personal property, your liability claims, and any covered peril claims.

Anything like a roof needing to be replaced or storm damage to the siding is the responsibility of the building owner and would be covered under their policy. Contact your local independent insurance agent to get a renters policy.
